Our Frankincense Resin Extract

We begin by gently crushing the precious frankincense tears using a mortar and pestle, releasing their natural resins. The finely ground resin is placed into clean glass jars, covered with a thoughtful blend of organic jojoba oil and extra virgin olive oil, and slowly infused in a water bath for 32-36 hours at a carefully monitored 55-58 degrees celsius.

This gentle, extended process allows the valuable boswellic acids and aromatic compounds to infuse deeply. After cooling overnight (which is believed to enhance extraction), the liquid is strained and patiently filtered through paper coffee filters over 1-2 days to achieve a clear, golden oil.

The remaining resin is given a second, shorter infusion (20-24 hours) to capture even more of the beneficial compounds. This second-press oil, rich in boswellic acids with a warm, earthy scent, is used generously in our balms, deodorants and Wildshield.
